Total Flooring, LLC
As a business owner, I fully understand the importance of a great online presence. I looked far and wide to find the right company for my website. I did the $300 SEO + free website deals, until I just got fed up. I posted what I needed on facebook and a friend referred me to www.ovatekweb.com. At the time, I had NO IDEA what a worth while company charged? I had been getting $4-700 quotes across the board. PAGE 1 RANKINGS FROM ALL...;) I would say that I was hesitant at first, but trusted my gut instinct with Pete Girardi (Founder and chief officer at OvaTek) He was the first company to not guarantee me results....sounds crazy, right?
It's not, no one can guarantee results on Google. I've learned that in the time working with Pete and know more about online presence that I ever have. My flooring companies website has been live for 5 months. I have a site ranking of 3 and am first page on several OPTIMAL keywords "hardwood flooring northern virginia" being one. Everything on my site has been optimized doing "White hat" optimization, so if Google changes their algorythisms, i'm still in the same spot. I can't stress how important a strong online presence is and the revenue that i'm seeing from it. OvaTek guaranteed me nothing and produced what money can't buy. Great service, great rankings, revenue, and more than I can blog about. It will provide for years to come.
Yes, this is a referral to Pete, OvaTek, and their incredible service to Total Flooring, but it's also a heads up to any business wanting to strengthen their online presence. You can search far and wide, spend hundreds of dollars, and go grey, looking for the right webmaster. I am a truly amazed client....giving you the name of the best in the business. I should be asleep, but was compelled to write this post, because it's so well deserved.
THE BEST thing that you can do as a new biz owner, or a seasoned one, is contact OvaTek. Tell them that Chad sent you...Pete Girardi is a family man as well as I. He understands that our work is our families income. He goes above and beyond to assure the success of all clients, he knows that their success, is his own. I've taken the time to write this because i'm proud of my website...and it's provider.
The BEST choice that i've made as a business owner so far...was to hire Pete Girardi/ OvaTek. Hands down!

as many as 20 teens in foster care leave the system without a family. Unable to return safely to their parents or relatives, they have waited and waited to be adopted, but no one ever stepped forward to adopt them. The kids who wait are usually African American and are age 9 or older when they enter foster
care. They have emotional, medical and educational needs. Many have lived in a series of foster homes or residential facilities. Foster parents and residential facilities do their best, but they usually cannot provide the one basic element that is crucial – a long-lasting connection to a caring adult. A child without a parent misses so much that other children take for granted: someone to help with school work, to praise an accomplishment, to celebrate a birthday – a place to call home. Children who grow up without the nurturing and attention of a parent are less likely to do well in school and are more likely to have delays

Kitchen Flooring Advice
Getting advice on your kitchen flooring is important for a couple of reasons. First, it's a moderately expensive purchase. Even when selecting modest flooring it will cost quite a bit. Second, once it is installed you will have to live with it for a long time. So making the wrong choice can be costly and heartbreaking.
Ultimately, choosing the right flooring should be based on your lifestyle and how you use your kitchen. Here are some tips to help you pick the right kitchen flooring for your home.
Ultimately, choosing the right flooring should be based on your lifestyle and how you use your kitchen. Here are some tips to help you pick the right kitchen flooring for your home.
Use and Style
- There are so many choices for kitchen flooring, so try to narrow them down based on how much you use your kitchen and to match your, or your family's, lifestyle. If you have a big family and your kitchen is the hub of the house, your kitchen floor will need to stand up to high traffic and spills. But if there are just two of you then the durability of the floor is a lot less important.
You will also want to match the flooring with the look of the kitchen, particularly countertops and cabinets, because it can help pull the room together. If your kitchen has a country look to it, then wood may look best. From there you will have to choose between hardwood, engineered wood and laminate. Although there are many colors and types of wood it helps to rule out other materials.
Flooring Choices
In the past, wood flooring wasn't recommended for kitchens because of the danger of the floor soaking up spills and moisture, causing it to distort or rot. Today, though, there are many wood flooring products made with a finish that, when properly maintained, work well in kitchens.
A laminate product is not the best option for a busy kitchen, because it requires immediate, diligent cleanup to protect it, so stick with hardwoods that have a urethane or similar finish on them.
If you want the look of wood without the upkeep, then you may consider ceramic/ porcelain tile or vinyl planks. Ceramic tiles that look like wood planks come in several different colors so you can match it to any décor. Of course, ceramic tile is a wonderful choice for your kitchen no matter what style you pick, as it is easy to clean and maintain and will outlast most homeowners. Besides ceramic tile, you could consider Travertine, stone or slate tiles, as they all make durable and beautiful kitchen floors.
Vinyl flooring is a popular choice for kitchens because it is impervious to water, can be laid in one piece or in tiles, and is easy to maintain. It is also one of the least expensive and easy-to-install flooring options for kitchens and is available in hundreds of designs and colors.
Linoleum is also a common kitchen flooring material, and like vinyl comes in many designs and colors and is impervious to water, though it does stain. While it is a little expensive it is considered a green flooring and can be purchased in sheets or tiles.
Green Flooring Advice
Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Respect.
What is “Green?”
For many of us, awareness of our individual impact on the life of our planet is just coming into focus. Recent initiatives by local utility companies, local builders and local and national governmental agencies have served to heighten awareness of every human being’s impact on the global environment. “Greening” our homes is a wonderful investment. The impact can be felt immediately within our own families and what’s good for us is good for our planet and future generations.
Going green, according to the U.S. Green Building Council, means looking at these factors when building or remodeling our homes:
- Energy savings
- Water efficiency
- CO2 emissions reduction
- Improved indoor environmental quality
- Stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
Saving energy may mean choosing a natural flooring that requires little energy to produce; buying locally so that transportation energy is minimal; choosing flooring with no or low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions because they can contribute to health problems; or choosing flooring that is made from renewable resources.
Every little step counts. And rest assured there are many flooring choices that will contribute to the notion of leaving our planet just as beautiful as it was when we arrived, so that our children and our children’s children can enjoy it as much as we did.

Avoid Squeaky Hardwood Flooring | Fairfax VA

Most creaks and squeaks are caused by wood rubbing on wood – it’s a simple mechanical problem of too much material stuck in too small of a space. Many Hardwood flooring manufactures use a natural, organic material that expands and contracts as temperatures and humidity levels change.

“Indoor air quality is probably my biggest thing – that's what got me going in a green direction,“ says Chad Durbin of Fairfax, Virginia -based Total Flooring LLC. ”I have a 2-year-old son, and when you see what they're crawling on that kind of wakes you up.”
Durbin started Total Flooring last year after a nearly 20 year career in flooring that saw him move up from installer through sales and into a variety of management roles. Representing his company at Earth Day and other green festivals motivated him to build up his expertise in green flooring. Last summer, he took the coursework and completed the testing that gave him his LEED-GA certification.
